Dear Sundance Families and Community,

On behalf of our staff at Sundance Elementary, I am excited to welcome you and your wildcat(s) to the 2022/2023 school year!  It’s an honor to continue to serve as principal of such an incredible community that is highly regarded for its academic excellence and innovation.  Our emphasis this year will be on social-emotional learning and engaging in year 1 of the Voyager Program.  Through Voyager, our teachers will create classroom spaces focused on balanced instruction, meaningful feedback, and a flexible classroom environment.  Sundance is also partnering with the district to include a World Language and Culture Program beginning in October.

Our theme this year will be belonging (bee-longing), and our goal is to ensure all our wildcats feel connected to their classroom, teacher, friends, and our staff.  Beginning on day 1 of school, our wildcats will step foot onto our bee-themed campus and our staff will wear antennas. You can walk with your child to their classroom on the first day of school.

Please click the Video Link to access a short recording to share with your child connected to our theme.  The recording contains a brief intro about our first day of school followed by a read aloud.  If you are new to Sundance, I have included a short video (linked here) about my background and educational journey.

As your principal, I want you to know that I always appreciate feedback and open communication.  My door is always open and I’m just an email or phone call away so don’t hesitate to stop by!

With warm regards,

Raquel Katz
Principal
