SCHOOL HEALTH PROCEDURES

STUDENT HEALTH: Rolling Hills has a Health Attendant to take care of first aid and emergencies. In case of student illness at school, the health attendant will notify parents or the emergency contact listed on the enrollment form. No registered nursing services are provided at the school on a daily basis.
KEEPING EVERYONE HEALTHY: Please remember that PUSD Guidelines state that your child must be fever- and vomit-free for 24 hours before returning to school. Students with Upper Respiratory Infections common symptoms: persistent nasal discharge that is purulent or discolored, productive cough, excessive coughing or appears to be too ill or uncomfortable to adequately function in classroom setting should stay home until no symptoms for 24 hours or a written medical release is obtained.
MEDICATION: Both prescription
and nonprescription medications require a written statement (
Authorization for Medication Administration form # H-26) from the parent/guardian
and physician indicating a desire for school personnel assist the student as set forth in the physician’s statement. Forms are available on the district website PUSD Health Services. (See link below) This Policy is to ensure the safety for

NOTE: Sunscreen, cough drops, lip balms, etc. must also have a note from the parent on file and be kept in the health office to be monitored by school personnel.
REQUIRED IMMUNIZATIONS: All children are required to have their vaccinations fully completed before enrollment, unless exempted as provided by law. The official record is the California State Record of Immunization (yellow card) obtained from your health care provider, which contains the following information: Name of child, date of birth, name of immunization administered, day, month and year of each immunization, signature or stamp of health care provider or agency administering each vaccine. Only two types of exemptions are allowed for immunization requirements: (1) Medical or (2) Personal Beliefs. Exemptions must be handled prior to enrollment. REQUIRED HEALTH ASSESSMENTS: Oral Health Assessments (dental screening) are required each year for all children entering public school for the first time at either the kindergarten or first grade level. Information and forms are available on the district website.
Also, the Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) Program is a state-mandated program which requires all students entering first grade receive specific health screenings within 18 months prior to or 90 days after entry into first grade.
