Welcome to the Poway Unified School District and congratulations on joining our comprehensive educational system. We are excited to welcome you to Pomerado Elementary School.  The following information should answer many of your questions regarding the start of school.

School Begins on August 18, 2021
TK Schedule:
8:15 am – 12:15 pm- Everyday
Kindergarten Schedule:
Transition Days- Begins 8/18/2021             8:15 am – 12:30 pm
Beginning Tuesday, September 28, 2021 the Kindergarten students will begin the same schedule as Grades 1-5 below.
Grades 1-5 Schedule:
 M, T, TH, F                                                                         8:15 am -2:35 pm
Wednesday (Time Banking Day)                                             8:15 am – 1:00 pm 
Classroom Assignments
Classroom assignments will be posted in front of the school on Tuesday, August 17th at 4:00 pm.  It is possible that these assignments may change due to changes in enrollment.
Before School Supervision
The playground will be open to students in the morning beginning at 7:55 a.m. No supervision will be provided before 7:55 a.m. so students should not arrive at school before this time. Once students arrive, they may not leave unless a parent or other authorized person comes to the office to sign them out. To ensure the safety of our children, pick up during the school day for medical, emergency release or other reasons; is only authorized for parents or guardians. Adults other than the parent or guardian, picking up the student during the school day, require prior notification to school office and that ID is shown.
School Meals:
All students will be provided free breakfast and lunch meals each school day until further notice.  All parents/guardians are encouraged to complete a free and reduced-price meal application found here so PUSD can receive increased funding support for students.
Medication at School
If your child is on medication, a “Physician’s Recommendation for Medication” is required. Please print off a copy of the form located below and have it completed by the physician, we will be collecting completed forms and medication once school begins in August. No medication may be given at school without this form. An adult must bring the medication to the school office, in the original container medication is dispensed. Children may never have medication in their possession at school. This includes aspirin, inhalers, cough drops, etc.

Bicycle Riding
Only students in grades 3, 4, and 5 may ride a bicycle to school by themselves. All other students must be accompanied by an adult and/or older sibling. Children must wear a helmet, and follow safety rules/laws. A permission form, obtained from the office, must be completed and on file with the office for students who wish to ride their bikes to school. Bikes must be walked once on school grounds. No rollerblades, scooters of any kind or skateboards are allowed on campus.
Parking Lot Drop Off & Pick Up
When dropping off and picking up students in the parking circle please drive all the way around the outer edge of the circle then pull all the way forward to drop off/pick up your child at the curb. Do not let your child out of the car until you are stopped at the edge of the curb. Never leave your car unattended in the loading zone. If you need to enter the school campus for any reason, please park your car in a designated space in the lot or on the street.
Extended Student Services
Pomerado  provides an ESS program, which is a fee-based before and after school childcare program. ESS is open from 6:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. All students planning to participate in ESS must be registered through the PUSD ESS department. Please access the ESS webpage for enrollment instructions and fees.
