MONTEREY RIDGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Weekly Monarch eBulletin

Week of September 11, 2017

Hello Monarch Parents,

Next week is a big week in the school year because we will be
taking school pictures.
Picture Days are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  Your child’s teacher knows which day they
are scheduled for, so please contact them if you have questions.

Thanks and have a great week!

 Sal Embry, Principal

Our Campaign Monarch fundraising is going strong! Already we've had several families donate to help us get closer to our goal - thank you! If you haven't donated yet, please consider making a contribution to support supplemental education programs for our students including Science, Technology, the Arts and much more!
If you'd like to learn more about Campaign Monarch or make a
donation online, please visit our website at mresfoundation.org.

Recycling
Did you know our school makes money just for recycling the
containers we're drinking out of every day? MRES has a CRV Recycling program sponsored
by Monarch Parent Teacher Foundation. Recyclables can be dropped off the last
Friday of every month from 8:00-9:00am at the flagpole in front of school.
Since there is no school on Friday, September 29th, our next collection will
  be on Thursday, September 28th.

All containers must be labeled with one of the following
  messages:

-California Redemption Value
-CA Redemption Value
-California Cash Refund
-CA Cash Refund
-CA CRV
Please note the recycling criteria listed below:
·         We are only collecting
CRV-labeled plastics and aluminum. Not sure if your container complies?
Simply look for the CA-CRV logo on the lid, bottom, or label of the
  container.

·         All plastic
and aluminum containers need to be separated into clear or white plastic
bags. We can no longer accept co-mingled recycling.

·         Labels should
remain intact on containers if at all possible, but if they have been removed
that's okay. Lids are fine and do not need to be removed. Any excess liquid
in containers needs to be emptied.

100% of the funds collected go to support programs here at MRES.
Do something good for our school...and the Earth!

Ralphs card registration time!
It’s that time again to re-register your Ralphs card.  As
of September 1, 2017 everyone needs to register their cards in order for a
percentage of your purchases to be donated to MRES. This is the easiest way
to give back to our school.  Please register your card today by
  following the link below.

If you have questions, please contact your child’s school office.

Lunches:
Please make sure that your child brings their lunch with them to
school in the morning or plan on having them buy a school lunch.  Please
do not wait and bring their lunch later in the day because it interrupts class
time and the flow of work in the school office.

Absences:
If your child is absent from school or you need to clear a
previous absence, please contact the attendance 24-Hour hotline. Reporting
absences is the responsibility of the parent/guardian. To report an absence,
call the hotline each day (unless you give us a date range for multiple days)
the student is absent. All absences must be cleared within 24 hours or they are
coded as truant. Please be prepared to provide your student’s name, your grade,
the date of the absence, the reason for the absence, your name and your
relationship to the student. The Absence Hotline is available 24/7 at
858-487-6887.

Noon duties wanted:
If you or someone you know likes working with kids, we are looking
for a few more noon duty employees.  Noon duties work 3-3.5 hours/day and
must be able to be in the sun for the entire shift.  Responsibilities
include supervising kids, helping students resolve playground disagreements,
enforcing school rules, sweeping and picking up loose pieces of trash in the
lunch area.  If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Boykin at
858-487-6887 x6104 or at
gmurphy@powayusd.com.
