Updated Pick Up Table Policy

Posted Date: 9/6/2019
Please open the link for more information regarding delivery of forgotten student items.
Given our growing student population and our desire to optimize academic and social-emotional growth for all of our Explorers, the front office staff will no longer be calling classrooms to notify students of forgotten items left on the Pick Up Table.  This is in an effort to eliminate the excessive number of interruptions that classroom phone calls make to students’ instructional time.
Please note that the Pick Up Table is still available for you to drop off forgotten student items. However, there will no longer be a phone call to the classroom to relay the message of a forgotten item. * Please remember, parents may not deliver items to classrooms.  Kindly remind your child/children, as will their classroom teachers, that if they realize they have forgotten or are missing an item from home, they may check the Pick Up Table during their morning recess and/or lunch recess to see if the item was delivered. It will be the responsibility of the student to communicate their need to check the Pick Up Table to their teacher, find time during their morning recess and/or lunch recess to go to the table, and retrieve their item, if it was delivered. If the item was not delivered, it is also the responsibility of the student to assume any related consequences that are an effect of not having the item (e.g., missing band practice for the day or sitting out during P.E., etc.).
Office staff is unable to assume responsibility for any items left on the Pick Up Table, including laptops.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain the strong educational environment that DSES was built upon.
