Deer Canyon Elementary School is in the Poway Unified School District in the community of Rancho Penasquitos. Penasquitos (or PQ) is in the north part of San Diego, California located just west of Interstate 15 and north of the newly constructed Route 56 (Ted Williams Pkwy). PQ is now just 7 miles
