STUDENT HEALTH: Canyon View has a Health Services Technician to take care of first aid and emergencies. In case of student illness at school, the health technician will notify parents or the emergency contact listed on the enrollment form. No registered nursing services are provided at the school on a daily basis.
When should my child stay home from school?

Good Health is critical for the learning process to take place. It is for this reason that students who are too ill to participate in normal activities should be excluded from school attendance. Not only are they unable to derive any benefits from the educational process when ill, but they may also be infecting other children and thus preventing them from attending school.
Please take a few minutes to carefully check your child's health before he/she leaves for school each morning. The following suggestions may help guide you:
- In general, students who are too ill to participate in normal activities and/or adequately function in the classroom setting should be excluded from school attendance.
- Students with an oral temperature of 100° F or above, with no other symptoms, should be excluded.
- Student with persistent vomiting should be excluded until the vomiting has stopped for at least 24 hours.
- Students with diarrhea should be excluded until diarrhea has ceased for at least 24 hours.
- Students with suspected contagious disease (i.e., rash) should be excluded until released by medical care service (preferably in writing), or until symptoms are no longer present.
- Students with known contagious diseases should have written approval to return to school.
- Students who have undergone a medical procedure requiring general anesthesia should stay home at least 24 hours.
- Students identified with Head Lice (Pediculosis): a. Children with identified live head lice are referred for treatment at the end of the school day. Until the end of the school day, avoid activity that includes head-to-head contact with other children or sharing of any headgear. b. Return to school after the child has received the treatment recommended by the child’s health professional. A trained staff member rechecks the student before returning to class. c. - Students receiving antibiotic medication may attend school when they have been taking the medicine for 24 hours.
If medicine is needed at school, written physician and parent approval is required.
