Dear Canyon View Students and Families,

I am honored and humbled to be your new Principal at Canyon View Elementary.  Stemming from a family of educators, my father as a Principal and my mother as a teacher, education is and has always been my passion.  I began teaching with the goal of positively impacting and educating all children and the school community.  It is my desire to have our children enjoy school and find a love of learning.  Together we will continue to uphold the greatness of Canyon View.  I am looking forward to working with the dedicated staff, students and community and learn from each of you how I may best support our school.

An essential aspect of my work as the Principal of Canyon View each day will be building solid relationships with students, families, and staff!   I will be out-and-about before school, after school, and during recess getting to know the parents and students of Canyon View.  Don't be surprised if you see me playing basketball or jumping rope with students at recess!

I have experience working with students, staffs, and community in Chula Vista and Poway.  I have taught 1st grade, 6th grade, RSP and was an instructional coach.  The past 3 years, I was an assistant principal at Bernardo Heights Middle School.   As an educator it is important to be a life-long learner!

I believe by working together, we can ensure your child's social, emotional and academic needs are met.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your children. I look forward to meeting you all soon!

Go Coyotes!

Jill Halsey
