TK/K Parent Pick Up Procedure for AM/PM
Please drive your car to pick up your TK/K students. They will be lined up outside next to the side gate, and the staff will bring your child to your car.  Please see the map for the location.

Arrival Procedures

Note: Although we ask everyone to drive, we understand that some students will need to walk to school. For safety reasons, we ask students to use the ABES cross walk to enter through the main gate for temperature check and enter campus. All gates that lead to steps and to the park will be closed.

There will be two designated gates for students to enter the campus (Campus map attached)
Zone 1 Side Gate will be for TK and K ONLY (unless there is an older sibling that
can walk the student to the classroom)
Zone 2 Main Gate will be for students driven on campus and walkers (1st-5th)

Zone 1 Side Gate for TK/K

It is expected that parents will walk their TK or K students up to the gate. ALL TK/K parents must park on the streets. ABES Parking lots will be closed to the public except for teachers and staff.

  • Markers will be placed on the sidewalk 6 feet apart for parents and their students. 2 staff members will be at the gate to take temperatures and ask questions.
  • Screening questions and temperature will be taken before entering the campus. If a student’s temperature is 100 degrees or over, we will recheck the temperature a second time 5 minutes after the first temperature check. If the temperature remains over 100 degrees, the student and family will go home.
  • Students walking to school will go to the isolation area if students have Covid-19 related symptoms and/or their temperature is 100 degrees or more to be picked up by a parent.
  • The student is given hand sanitizer.
  • If the student passes the temperature check and questions, they are then escorted to the classroom by a Staff Member.
Zone 2 Main Gate is for Students Checked in their Vehicle and walkers
  • Students in grades 1st through 5th can stay in vehicles (masks on) for temperature and screening questions by staff. If a student’s temperature is 100 degrees or over, we will recheck the temperature 5 minutes after the original temperature was taken. If the temperature remains over 100 degrees, the student and family will go home.
  • After screening, students will enter campus through the main gate designated as the Drive-up gate. They will use hand sanitizer before entering the campus.
  • Students screened will wait outside on social distancing markers until the teacher opens the door, or if the door is open, the student may go inside the classroom. We strongly encourage students to come as close to the start of school as possible.
