PUSD families receiving transportation for fee services:
As you are aware, Superintendent Dr. Marian Kim Phelps announced that in order “to maintain stability and continuity-of-learning for our students, PUSD will remain fully virtual through the December break”. To help families who may be experiencing continued hardship due to COVID-19, previous bus pass purchases have been cancelled. In the event that PUSD schools are able to open earlier than anticipated, our website will reopen, and offer a prorated school bus pass. If school campuses reopen after the December break, then a Spring bus pass will be available. Appropriate discounts will apply in lieu of temporary school closures due to COVID-19.
Families eligible for transportation will be notified when the Bus Pass application website below reopens.

Our mission is to safely transport passengers in an efficient manner to and from all learning experiences. To fulfill our mission we will provide professionally trained experienced employees, using quality well-maintained vehicles and staying current with all laws and safety standards. Fundamental to our mission are effective communications, teamwork, professional and progressive attitudes, openness to change and mutual respect for all.
Because the State of California has ruled that transportation for regular education students is not an integral part of the education process and therefore does not fully reimburse school districts for this expense, the Poway Unified School District offers transportation services for regular education students on a fee basis only. The current charge for a full year-round trip bus pass is $625. Semester-only passes are available at a reduced fee. Over the past 20 years, the parents of our District have contributed a total of more than $20 million to ensure that they continue to have access to home-to-school transportation for regular education students.
Bus pass application notices are mailed to the parents of known eligible students mid-summer to prepare for the upcoming school year. Applications are processed and bus passes are issued in time for school to start at the end of August.
