Open Enrollment

Monday, Oct 24, 2022 - Friday, Nov 4, 2022 at 5:00 pm.

PUSD’S ANNUAL OPEN ENROLLMENT IS HERE!

Open Enrollment is the once-a-year opportunity to enroll or change your benefit plan options for you and your eligible dependents. This year’s Open Enrollment will be held from Monday, October 24, 2022, through Friday, November 4, 2022, at 5:00 pm.
This is a “changes -only” open enrollment. If you wish to add or remove dependents, change medical or dental carriers, terminate coverage, enroll, or re-enroll in a medical or dependent care flexible spending account, enroll, or increase voluntary life insurance or AD&D, or Opt-Out of coverage, you will need to take action via the BenefitBridge portal.

What’s New for Plan Year 2023

Vision Carrier Change

MESVision has joined the EssilorLuxottica family of companies which includes EyeMed Vision Care. The good news is Poway Unified School District members will benefit by receiving enhanced benefits and greater network options! Members will receive ID cards in late December. See details on page 29 of the 2023 Employee Benefits Information Guide.

PSEA I and II Change in Employee Contributions

Effective January 1, 2023, The District in agreement with PSEA I and II Bargaining Units will change the way Health and Welfare Benefit costs are calculated for all eligible classified employees.

Employee only coverage of a plan package consisting of any HMO medical plan (Kaiser HMO, Anthem Select HMO, Anthem Priority Select HMO), plus your choice of either Delta Dental PPO or MetLife Dental DHMO; EyeMed Vision and Standard Life Insurance is paid for by the District at 100%.

Employees wishing to elect the PPO medical plan for self or self and dependent(s) may do so, however there is an employee share of cost. Please see the PSEA rate sheets listed in the 2023 Employee Benefits Information Guide.

Employees electing coverage for employee + one dependent or employee + 2 or more dependents, for any of the following plans: HMO Medical plan (Kaiser HMO, Anthem Select HMO, Anthem Priority Select HMO), Delta Dental PPO or MetLife DHMO, EyeMed Vision: will have premiums paid 80% by the District and 20% by the employee. See specific bargaining rate sheets on pages 11 & 12.

Opt-Out/Waiver Option

For employees currently opting out of PUSD’s Basic Health Insurance Package and receiving Opt-Out Cash, it is required that you complete attestation of your other insurance coverage on an annual basis. New this year, current Opt-Out members will receive an email prior to Open Enrollment containing a link to a form in Google Docs requesting your intended participation in the Opt-Out program for plan year 2023. *Should you decide to enroll in benefits coverage during Open Enrollment (Oct. 24 - Nov. 4, 2022) through BenefitBridge, those changes will supersede the selections made on this form. Current enrollment in dental, vision, supplemental life, or MetLife Legal will continue with the completion of this form. Enrollment in a Medical Flexible Spending Account or Dependent Day Care Account is required annually, and you MUST make an election via the BenefitBridge portal during Open Enrollment.

The Standard

The Standard is offering an annual opportunity for employees currently enrolled in voluntary life insurance to increase their term life policy by $10,000 (not to exceed $250,000 or 5 times their annual salary) with guaranteed issue. Amounts above $10,000 are subject to underwriting.

MetLife Legal Plans Plus Parents

New this year MetLife Legal is now offering the Plus Parents plan for $30.60 tenthly. MetLife Legal Plans Plan Plus Parents covers you, your spouse, dependents, and your parents for many of the common legal issues your family faces. Services highlighted in bold are available to parents and parents-in-law through Plus Parents. *Note: the traditional MetLife Pre-Paid Legal Plan is still available without the added Plus Parents for $23.40 tenthly.
Benefits

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

The Healthcare FSA maximum is increasing to $2,850 annually for plan year 2023. As a reminder, enrollment in a Healthcare or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account is required on an annual basis and will not automatically carry over from plan year 2022.

Anthem Blue Cross will be issuing new ID Cards for ALL members, due to a customer service phone number change effective January 1, 2023.
