2020-21 New Student Enrollment for Middle and High School Students

 

 We are excited to welcome you to the 2020-2021 enrollment process!

New Student Enrollment for Poway Unified School District is an on-line process. For new enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year, please contact your School of Residence at the appropriate enrollment email address noted below.  As needed, please use the address look-up tool to assist you with the confirmation of your correct School of Residence. 

PLEASE NOTE: Your student’s enrollment ensures a seat at a school in Poway Unified. We make every effort to enroll your child at your neighborhood school. In some cases, classes at your neighborhood school may reach capacity, in which case we will work with you to place your child at a nearby school.​

STEP 1

STEP 1: MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL

Please complete the New Student Enrollment Intake form (Available at each Secondary School Site Webpage [See listing below])*  This form will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete and you will be required to upload a copy of your Government Issued Photo ID, your student's age verification**  and residency verification documents [See Residency Verification Documentation]. 
** Original Birth Certificate, Current Passport or Baptismal Certificate (TK-12).

  • Student's birth certificate or Passport
  • two proofs of residency (e.g., Mortgage, Lease Agreement, Utility Bill, etc. with Address)
  • Immunization records (see Health Services for specifics)
  • High School Transcripts  [HIGH SCHOOL ONLY]
    • ​Incoming 9th grade students need their most current report card
    • All other students need a high school transcript with all completed high school courses*** 
      ***Please note, the Request to Transfer Records does NOT include a transcript or report card. A transcript is required for proper course placement.

    • Students coming from foreign countries must bring a transcript for all courses equivalent to High School and school documentation stating how long the courses lasted, how many sessions per week, and how long a session lasted (instructional minutes). If not in English, all school documentation, birth certificates, and immunization records must be officially translated before we can accept them. All students from foreign countries should have F-1 Visas​

 Please ensure you allow yourself enough time to complete the form and have the necessary documents ready to upload prior to beginning this step. Any information entered will not be saved if you are unable to complete all required questions. 

*Please note, the Intake Form is only the first step in the enrollment process and does not  guarantee your child a seat until all required information is received and you receive confirmation from your school. 


Step 2 - Obtain Original Documents


STEP 2:  You will be contacted by your school of residence via email within two weeks regarding next steps to complete the enrollment process.  


Step 3 - Fill out and print Enrollment Documents


STEP 3: Prepare required and optional enrollment forms, which you can find  below to be uploaded in Step 4.

STEP 4:  Per directions from the school site, upload required and optional enrollment forms. If possible, registration forms and other documentation should be submitted in PDF format.

STEP 5: Upon receipt and review of required enrollment forms, you will be contacted by your school site.

2020-21 Enrollment Forms


The Address Lookup System provides the names, addresses, phone numbers, and website links of the designated schools for residential addresses located within PUSD boundaries. Address Lookup |  Boundaries and Maps
All children are required to have their vaccinations fully completed/up to date before enrolling in preschool unless exempted as provided by law. Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016, exemptions based on personal/religious beliefs will no longer be an option for vaccines required for school entry in California.

The State of California has ruled that transportation for regular education students is not an integral part of the education process and therefore does not fully reimburse school districts for this expense, the Poway Unified School District offers transportation services for regular education students on a fee basis only. Check out the Transportation website for information on Busing details.
Bus pass application notices are mailed to the parents of known eligible students in June to prepare for the upcoming school year. Applications are processed and bus passes are issued in time for school to start at the end of August. Visit the Transportation page for more information and bus passes
MEAL PAYMENT OPTIONS

Foods and beverages served in PUSD schools follow federal, state, and local nutrition requirements based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the USDA MyPlate food guide. Meals are planned, prepared, and served by a team of qualified child nutrition professionals, including a registered dietitian. School lunch is offered at every school and follows the meal pattern of the National School Lunch Program. The school lunch meal includes choice of entree, a variety of fruits and vegetables, and choice of milk. The School Breakfast Program is offered at eight schools: Los Penasquitos ES, Midland ES, Pomerado ES, Valley ES, Meadowbrook MS, Mt. Carmel HS, Poway HS, and Westview HS. In addition to complete school meals, a la carte foods and beverages ("Smart Snacks") are available for purchase at middle and high schools. SCHOOL MENUS
