2017-18 New Student Enrollment 

Welcome to Poway Unified School District

We are happy to welcome you to our school district!
This website provides all the necessary forms required to complete your new student enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year. Please follow the step-by-step instructions and proceed as directed. If you need to identify and locate the school your child is to attend, please go to the Address Lookup Tool (see below).


2017-18 Enrollment Forms



Step 1

You will need the latest free version of Adobe Acrobat to download these forms. Click here [Adobe Reader]  to download. 


Step 2

It is important that you read, fill out, print, and return each of the required forms in the table listed above.  When you sign the Signature Verification Form within the 2017-2018 Enrollment Documents packet you are acknowledging you have read all required forms.


Step 3

Please be sure to bring the following ORIGINAL documents with you upon enrollment

  • Original Birth Certificate, Current Passport or Baptismal Certificate(TK-12). As required by State law, all children entering Kindergarten must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2017. If your child's 5th birthday is between September 2, 2017 and December 2, 2017, they will be enrolled in Transitional Kindergarten. 
  • Immunization Records Click for current immunization information (TK-12). All children are required to have their vaccinations fully completed before enrolling in school, unless exempt, as provided by law.   PLEASE NOTE:  Students entering Grade 7 will need proof of a Tdap booster shot unless exempt, as provided by law.
  • Two Documents as Proofs of Residency (TK-12)  Click for appropriate documents for address verification
  • Transcript from previous school (6-12)

Step 4

School Site specific enrollment forms can be found on the at each of the school sites. Check your child(ren)'s school for enrollment or registration forms. PLEASE NOTE: Design39Campus enrollment is by Lottery only. Please see their website.


Step 5

Return all necessary forms to your student's school during assigned enrollment times.  Please know the enrollment process is not complete until you provide the school with all required forms in the table below and the original documents listed in Step 3. Thank you!

Enrollment

The Address Lookup System provides the names, addresses, phone numbers, and website links of the designated schools for residential addresses located within PUSD boundaries. Address Lookup |  Boundaries and Maps
All children are required to have their vaccinations fully completed/up to date before enrolling in preschool unless exempted as provided by law. Under a new law known as SB 277, beginning January 1, 2016, exemptions based on personal/religious beliefs will no longer be an option for vaccines required for school entry in California.

The State of California has ruled that transportation for regular education students is not an integral part of the education process and therefore does not fully reimburse school districts for this expense, the Poway Unified School District offers transportation services for regular education students on a fee basis only. Check out the Transportation website for information on Busing details.
Bus pass application notices are mailed to the parents of known eligible students in June to prepare for the upcoming school year. Applications are processed and bus passes are issued in time for school to start at the end of August. Visit the Transportation page for more information and bus passes

Foods and beverages served in PUSD schools follow federal, state, and local nutrition requirements based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the USDA MyPlate food guide. Meals are planned, prepared, and served by a team of qualified child nutrition professionals, including a registered dietitian. School lunch is offered at every school and follows the meal pattern of the National School Lunch Program. The school lunch meal includes choice of entree, a variety of fruits and vegetables, and choice of milk. The School Breakfast Program is offered at eight schools: Los Penasquitos ES, Midland ES, Pomerado ES, Valley ES, Meadowbrook MS, Mt. Carmel HS, Poway HS, and Westview HS. In addition to complete school meals, a la carte foods and beverages ("Smart Snacks") are available for purchase at middle and high schools.  SCHOOL MENUS
