ACCOUNTING

Accounting 1
Students will learn how to perform several aspects of basic accounting including: banking procedures; characteristics and applied accounting procedures of partnerships; net income statements; proper keyboarding techniques; and calculations. Cengage Mindtap Century 21 Accounting: Multicolumn Journal 11th Edition. Completion of both Accounting 1 and 2 with a grade of  “B” or better qualifies students to earn 3 credits on a Palomar College transcript for ACCT. 101, Bookkeeping. Class fee includes etextbook.
 
Accounting 2
Students will learn about advanced accounting procedures for merchandising business and corporations; corporate payroll; inventory; uncollectible accounts; plant assets; depreciation and cost basis; issuance, sale and purchase of stock; analysis of accounting; general industry knowledge and computer skills. Cengage Mindtap, Century 21 Accounting: Multicolumn Journal 11th Edition. Completion of both Accounting 1 and 2 with a grade of  “B” or better qualifies students to earn 3 credits on a Palomar College transcript for ACCT. 101, Bookkeeping. Class fee includes etextbook. Pre-requisite, Accounting 1.

QUICKBOOKS PRO 

QuickBooks

QuickBooksPro is the most widely accepted accounting system used in businesses. Master this powerful, yet easy-to-use software. Set up a company and continue through accounts receivable and payable, banking and credit, payroll, budgeting, reporting and year-end transactions. Completion of this course will prepare you for the QuickBooksPro Certified User exam. Windows basic skills needed. NOTE: Students will need a home computer with a Windows operating system and the free software download provided by Intuit. Registered students will receive download instructions prior to the class start date. Apple computers are not compatible with this program. 

BASIC CLERICAL SKILLS

Introduction to Basic Clerical Skills

This introductory course is for those new to the world of office occupations and aids in preparation of an entry-level office job. Concepts covered are: Windows, file management, Internet, proper keyboarding techniques, business math and effective workplace communication. The ideal next course after this is Excel Level 1 or MS Word Level 1. This course is offered in a self-paced, open-entry, open exit format.
 
MICROSOFT EXCEL 2016

MS Excel is the industry standard for spreadsheets. Most employers hiring for office positions note Excel proficiency as a requirement. We encourage all Business-bound students to learn the skills necessary to build a solid foundation in spreadsheets. 

NOTE: In "self-paced" courses, students study at their own pace. Instructors are available to provide one-on-one assistance on Zoom or on campus in our Open Lab. See Open Lab hours here.

Microsoft Excel Level 1

Learn to navigate the Excel workbook environment, enter, edit and format data, use formulas, and create charts for analysis. No pre-requisite.

Microsoft Excel Level 2

Create and edit tables, calculate using advanced functions, create and update PivotTables and PivotCharts and use "what-if" analysis tools. Pre-Requisite:  Excel Level 1, or proficient knowledge and function of Excel Level 1 topics.

Microsoft Excel Level 3

This course prepares students to take the Certiport MOS Specialist exam for Microsoft Excel. Pre-Requisite:  Excel Level 1 and 2 or knowledge of objectives covered in Level 1 and Level 2.
