Educational Options Overview

Abraxas High School

Abraxas High School is a continuation high school that serves students who benefit from an educational environment that is smaller, more intimate, and more flexible than the comprehensive high schools. Abraxas students typically select this school because they are at risk of not receiving a high school diploma.

Each student and family through an extensive counseling process with their comprehensive high school have decided Abraxas is the best option to earn a diploma. Those who enroll at Abraxas High School are usually 16 years old or orlder, and voluntarily choose to attend this school because along with their parents appreciate the unique opportunities that Abraxas offers.

For students who may be at risk of not receiving a high school diploma, Abraxas serves a role for hundreds of students to make high school graduation a reality. Abraxas is recommended for students age 17 to 19 who may be as much as 50 short of the required high school graduation credits. Regular attendance at Abraxas is required, Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM - 1:15 PM each day.

Please be advised the Abraxas curriculum does not meet the A-G requirements for UC and CSU. However those wishing to pursue higher education do so through the Community College system.
