The San Diego County Grand Jury released a report on June 6, 2012, commending
everyone associated with the Poway Unified School District for significant accomplishments in
providing a quality education. The commendation states: “PUSD’s capacity to include the
students, parents, teachers, staff, administration, union, and the school board in the
commitment to provide a quality education is superb.”
On June 14, 2012, the California Department of Education released the results of the 2011 State
and Similar School Rankings for all public schools. These are not to be mistaken for the recent 2012
Spring California Standards Test (CST), given to Poway students this past May.
The Poway Unified School District is proud to announce the selection of seven new
principals: Elementary Schools: Michael Olander, Monterey Ridge Elementary School; and
Bob Rodrigo, Sundance Elementary School. Middle Schools: Tim Biland, Bernardo Heights
Middle School; Dr. Kelly Burke, Twin Peaks Middle School; Casey Currigan, Oak Valley Middle
School; and Gregory Magno, Black Mountain Middle School. High School: David LeMaster,
Rancho Bernardo High School.
The Poway Unified School District is pleased to announce that Ron Garrett is being
recommended for the position of Abraxas Continuation High School principal, beginning July 1, 2012.
