HAPPY SUMMER!  SEE YOU IN AUGUST!!

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Hello Terrapin Families,

What a fun week at school we’ve had!  We now have four fantastic days left of instruction with your amazing children.  Turtleback is alive!  Don’t forget that Thursday, June 9 is our final day of school and we will dismiss students at: TK/K dismiss at 11:35, Gr 1-5 dismiss at 11:45.

I want to thank you again for giving us this opportunity to service and learn alongside your children.  Again, thank you for taking the time to help us out this year.  We look forward to your involvement in our school moving forward as raising the leaders of tomorrow “takes a village.”  We are already hard at work preparing for a spectacular 2022- 2023 school year!

We have 5th grade promotion scheduled this Tuesday, June 7th at 9:00.  You are welcome to take your children home to celebrate afterwards but please remember to sign them out and there is school on Wednesday and Thursday.

Yearbooks are here and they look amazing!  Thank you to our fabulous teachers and Yearbook team!

As we head into summer remember that growth is on-going and learning never stops!  Please continue to consider these ways to help your child do well in school and thrive in life.
  • Show you care.  Your child needs hugs and words of support.  Ask your child, "What did you learn today?"  “who did you enjoy talking to?” or “who did you sit with at lunch?”
  • Read, read, read.  Read with your child or have her or him read every day.  Make it fun - talk about what you've read and be a part of their reading experience.
  • Promote healthy habits.  Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep, exercise, and starts each day with a healthy breakfast.
  • Be a role model.  Your child learns from you and looks up to you.  Be positive about education and show you enjoy learning.
  • Encourage independence.  Allow your child to make mistakes and learn to accept their consequences.  Give your child responsibilities, such as household chores.
  • Create a study routine.  Set a time and quiet place for your child to work every day.  Review and celebrate work and effort together.
  • Get involved.  Meet with your coaches and attend events.  Help out when you can.
  • Build success.  Encourage positive self-talk.  Help raise your child's self-esteem by setting reachable goals and praising your child's efforts.

Enjoy the weekend, get some rest, and hug the ones you love!

The Luckiest Principal in the World,

Adam Carlin

THE GREEN TEAM
Turtleback’s Green team has wrapped up our meetings for the year.  We sorted and recycled over $1100 worth of your cans and bottles, funding the Foundation will use for the many programs that enrich our students' lives.  We also made friends, learned about how we can reduce our impact on the earth, and had some fun too.
For the rest of the year, and as we move into summer, please continue to bring your recyclables to the containers on the left side of the school.   We look forward to starting next school year with a container full of material for the children to sort!  Thanks to all who support our recycling efforts.
The Foundation would like to thank Martin Thomas and his Green Team Parent Supervisors for all of their time and dedication to making this program happen for our students.  Their tireless efforts early, on Tuesday mornings, helped our environment and taught our kids about responsibility, teamwork and recycling.

LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!  TAKE THE FOUNDATION SURVEY NOW!
Terrapin families, it is time to be heard!  Help us gauge where to take the Foundation next year in order to do even bigger and better things for all of our Terrapins.  This survey should take 3 minutes of your time and will truly help us with our planning this summer.  Share your opinions, give us feedback, and help us decide what we fund and what programs run at our school.  We are hoping to receive feedback from 200 families.  Make your opinion count!
