Weekly Otter Bulletin

Library Redesign
We have some exciting news to share! Our library is going to get started on an “Ottery terrific” makeover this summer and we need your help!
The library is the heart of our school and literacy is one of the core foundations we provide our children to help them succeed in the future.  Our goal is to update and create a fun and inviting space for our children to share for many years to come.  The plan is to paint, add seating, desk space and signage to create a more functional, cohesive space for our children to learn, research and grow.
Want to be part of the Library redesign?  We are having a one day painting experience and would love for you to attend.  There are currently 10 acoustic panels in the library that are blank!  We plan to turn those into an underwater sea theme.  We need students help!  Students can come in paint clothes on July 14 and be part of the redesign team.  Kids will paint on a pellon material,  the artist will then take and create underwater sea creatures with the student painted material. You will be able to see the finished project when you return in August!  Don’t wait signups will go quick!!  Each student must come with a parent who will be supervising their child during the painting experience.
Shoal Creek Educational Foundation has created a PayPal account and is now able to accept credit cards.  We also accept cash and check.  If you are interested in donating to the project, you may do so here: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=QK8FYDVUF33FL
You may also send in cash or check with your student in a labeled envelope Please make sure to label the envelope: Library Redesign Donation cc: SCEF or Foundation
We can’t wait to show you some changes that you will see in August when we return to school!

Lego League
Shoal Creek is looking to start a new Jr. First Lego League Team next fall. It is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids ages 6 to 10. Older students can participate in First Lego League. Guided by adult coaches, students build models using LEGO and create posters to present what they learned. The program focuses on building interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through a real-world challenge – to be solved by research, critical thinking, and imagination.  You can see more information in the attached link.
The last week of school is just as important as the first week. Let’s work hard, be kind and finish the year strong.
