RHES Celebrates Black History Month

Our school will celebrate Black History Month in a variety of ways. Students will read books and watch videos of read-alouds celebrating Black History.  Some classrooms are writing biographies of influential black leaders and inventors.  We are reading Scholastic News articles to study social justice.  Classrooms are having discussions about famous black Americans such as Martin Luther King Jr and Ruby Bridges. 5th grade is using Unit 4 from Benchmark to study poetry written by Langston Hughes.  Our entire school will be completing a One Book/One School activity for the book, Sulwe, as part of our No Place for Hate Program.
