Hello Monarch Parents,


We are really in the home stretch of the school year with only 9 days left!

As we close out the school year, we have much to be proud of at Monterey Ridge.
Thanks to our great staff, students, and parents, our school was named a
California Distinguished School for 2018, and the education website
ranked Monterey Ridge #10 in a list of best public elementary schools in San
Diego County. Click

Monterey Ridge is a Polling Location on June 5

Please remember that on Tuesday, June 5th, our school multi-purpose room will be used as a
polling location.  Expect heavier than normal traffic.


Waste Diversion Filming on June 6

Solana Center will be here on campus on Wednesday, June 6 to film our waste diversion
program and worm composting bins.  These films will be used to demonstrate
a model waste diversion program for other schools in our county. We are very
proud to be selected as a model for others.  If you
do not want your child to be on
camera during Wednesday’s filming,
please notify your child’s teacher and Mr. Embry at  


Jump Rope for Heart

Thanks again to everyone who helped us raise money for the American Heart Association.
 The funds our school raised helps the American Heart Association fund
research and community education programs.
Their funding of
pediatric cardiac research is second only to the federal government.

We doubled our donations as compared to last year, with a grand total as of
5/31/18 of $13,661.  This makes us the top fundraiser in the county!

If your child earned a prize above and beyond the “instant prizes” they will be
delivered to the school sometime next week.  Our school will also be
getting gift certificates for playground equipment thanks to your generosity.

Here’s a shout out to the students with the highest overall fundraising:

*1st Place
- Marcus (5th Grade) - $540

*2nd Place
- Madilene (2nd Grade) - $360

*3rd Place
- Evan (2nd Grade) - $315

*4th Place
- Krista (3rd Grade), Ryder (2nd Grade), Kana (3rd Grade) - $300


The Book Fair was a Success!

The Spring Book Fair was a huge success, thanks to all the wonderful volunteers and our
Monarch customers!

Total onsite sales were $11,540, which raised $7,000 in Scholastic Dollars.


With these Scholastic Dollars, our teachers, resource instructors, and librarian are able
to purchase books and scholastic magazines for their classrooms.  It is
always exciting to give teachers the opportunity to "shop" without
having to use their own money. We hope you enjoyed expanding your home library
with your book purchases. Enjoy the summer reading your new books!

Early Check out

Please try to schedule appointments after school hours. During school hours, students must
be checked out through the office, with proper identification. Please do not
call the office in advance to have your student dismissed, we will call when
you arrive.

Students will only be released to parties listed on their accounts. Changes to this CAN NOT
be done by phone. You will have to update this in person or on your MyPlan


Rule change for Next Year:

Due to the a number of tripping accidents, we will not be allowing rolling
next year.  Please keep this in mind when shopping for school supplies for
next year.


Oak Valley Student Art Show

The Oak Valley Art Corps Art Show is next week! The show is open during school hours in
the Oak Valley MPR June 4-7. The show will also be open in the evening from 5
to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6. Bring your family and come see what's ahead for
your students at Oak Valley!
