HIGHLAND  HAPPENINGS:
 
FAMILY READING NIGHT
Did you know that reading aloud to your child is the number 1  thing you can do to help your child succeed at school from kindergarten to 12th grade?   Mrs. Ellen Phaneuf, Highland Ranch teacher,  will explain these benefits and several others at our Family Reading Night.  She will describe how to go about reading aloud in ways to benefit your child throughout his/her school career.   Pizza will be provided at a discounted price of $1 a slice!  You must pay in advance for the pizza.  There will be free childcare for children ages five and above.  PLEASE SEE ATTACHED FLYER -  You must RSVP to attend.*
 
ART ATTACK IS BACK
We are ready to kick-off another great year of Art Attack!   Join Mrs. Birdsong in the MPR for one hour, one day a week to help our
children develop an appreciation of art, and discover their talents.  You don't need to be an artist to volunteer!  The only way this program can continue is with your volunteer time commitment! See below for grade level schedule:

TK/Kindergarten - Tuesdays, 9/19 - 11/7
First Grade - Wednesdays,  9/20 - 11/8
Fourth Grade - Tuesdays,  11/28 - 1/30
Fifth Grade - Wednesdays,  11/29 - 1/31
Second Grade - Tuesdays, 2/6 - 4/3
Third Grade - Wednesdays, 2/7 - 4/4
All grades will be from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.   Look forward to another year with our Art Attack program.

MOVIE NIGHT WITH THE FAMILY OUTDOORS
TONIGHT! PTA is looking forward to seeing you and your family and friends tonight for Family Night At The Movies, outdoors on the playground.  Gate and concessions open at 6:30 p.m. / movie starts at 7:00 p.m.  Suggested donation of $1 per person.  Don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets.
 
Room Parent Meeting
There will be a special meeting for Room Parents on Friday, September 22nd, right after Friday Flag in the MPR.  You should have
gotten an email regarding this meeting.  If you are a Room Parent and did not get an email, please email 
jannawernli@gmail.com.  Hope to see you all there! There will be a Book Fair clean up party afterwards if you want to stay and help!
 
Spirit  Wear
 
Last day to place ALL orders for delivery by end of the month is today!! You can do it online at https://hrespta.myschoolcentral.com  OR come visit us at our Spirit Wear table before movie nights starts this evening @ 6:30pm where we can accept cash or checks for all orders at the table.  We are also having a ‘closet clean out’ SALE at the table this evening where you can pick up limited design tee shirts for $5 only!!  Find a shirt you like, find the size  that fits and it's yours for only $5!


 
NOMINATE HIGHLAND RANCH TO RECEIVE $10,000 TOWARDS A SHADE STRUCTURE
The PTA is trying to save enough money to purchase shade for the playground so the kids can have a place to cool off and get out of the sun.  Frigo Cheese Heads is giving away $10,000, which would go extremely far in getting closer to having the funds for the shade.  Please be sure to nominate Highland Ranch at the following website: http://www.cheeseheadsbrightfuture.com/. The last day to nominate Highland Ranch is October 31.  Thank you!
 
FALL BOOK FAIR - SEPTEMBER 18-21
Howdy Stallions! Our Wild West Book Fair is coming next week, September 18-21 in the MPR. Did you know that our school library gets no funding from our district? The Fall Book Fair is a fundraising event that supports our school library. We earn 50% of our total sales from the Fall Book Fair for new and updated resources for our students to use at the school library. Please ask your child’s teacher for more information on their scheduled class visit.
We are also open After School on Tuesday, September 19th from 1:45-2:15pm and have Family Night on Thursday, September 21st from 4:30-7pm. On Family Night, you don’t have to worry about dinner because there will be pizza and drinks available for sale. All proceeds from this dinner sale will benefit the Highland Ranch Chorus & Stallion Singers! Please remember that TAX IS NOT INCLUDED and ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Bags are limited so please bring a reusable bag to the after school sale and Family Night. Our Book Fairs are not possible without our awesome volunteers!  Please consider volunteering just an hour of your time to help make this the most successful book fair yet! We Need YOU!    Please join us for our (rescheduled) first Highland Ranch Educational Foundation (HREF) meeting of the year on Monday, Sept. 18 at 7pm in the HRES Library.  The HREF is comprised of parents just like you, who value all of the opportunities that the Foundation’s fundraising efforts support:  the Hands-On Science  teacher and Physical Education teacher, the new World Music Program, technology, and more.   We need new partners in these efforts, and  we look forward to meeting you!

What is Rectangular, in Your Students’ Backpacks TODAY, and Red   All Over?:    The Foundation’s Red Envelopes for our Fall
Fundraising Campaign, which kicks off TODAY!   Please find those lucky, red envelopes; fill them with $Love$; and keep our kids’ Science, PE, and World Music programs rolling.  Thank you in advance for your generosity!   Let there be Science!  and more!  (To donate  online:

RALPHS
You Gotta Eat, Right? Donate to Highland Ranch while doing your family’s food shopping  at Ralph’s.  WE ALL need to register and re-enroll our Ralph’s Cards for the New Term after Sept. 1, 2017 in order to keep the donations flowing. This   program resets each year so even if you have registered your card in the past we need you to log in and register it again. Step-by-step instructions can be   found by going to www.ralphs.com  click 'Community', chose 'Community Contributions in the drop down menu, then scroll down and click ‘Enroll Now’.  HRES earned  $1600 last year due to this program, just based upon something we all need to do anyhow.   Way to multi-task, HRES!
