‚ÄčImportant Information: 

PUSD has announced that the first day of school will be September 2, 2020.  In order to support our Summer Camp families, a Session 4 will be added to the summer calendar of fun!  Session 3 ends on Wednesday , August 12th.  ESS will be closed to students on Thursday and Friday August 13-14 so that our hard-working staff can plan and prepare for an unexpected Session 4.   Session 4 will run 9 days from August 17- August 27th from 7:30-5:30.  Registration information will be sent out to current Session 3 families first by the individual ESS site Supervisors the week of August 3rd and will be filled based on availability and a first come first serve basis. Please understand that many of the college students who staff our summer programs have made plans to head back to college for the fall during these dates. 

 

ESS will then close to students August 28, 31 and September 1st  so the staff can prepare for the start of the school year, reopening to students along with our school sites on September 2nd.  Additionally ESS is exploring the possibility of expanding our service for the fall to meet the needs of our families during these difficult times.  Please know that due to staffing needs, adult to child ratios, as well as safety and health requirements we must follow, we may not be able to meet the specific need of every family.  However, we do continue to explore our hours and services as we approach the reopening of school. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to serve our students and their families to the best of our capabilities given staffing and safety constraints.


2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR REGISTRATION:

In order to enroll your child into our ESS program, you must enroll into the school first. If you have not done so, please check out the school district website for info on how to enroll your child into Highland Ranch Elementary!

All forms must be submitted to the ESS office, in person, and signed by the Supervisor or Leads before they are valid. Please read our Parent Handbook  before signing  all forms in the Enrollment Packet.

ESS Overview

Mission Statement - "E.S.S. is a bridge between school and home where children are encouraged to learn, create, and explore within their school, community, and world."

Program Overview - This extended-day program expands the excellence of each child's school experience into before and after school. E.S.S. is staffed by highly qualified professionals and trained program assistants. The staff provides for the academic and social needs of children in safe and nurturing environments. There is time, space, encouragement, and support for learning good study habits.

Voluntary Use Program - ESS is a voluntary use program. All PUSD elementary schools have an Extended Student Services program on their campus. Our organization works diligently to accommodate and serve working families in need of before and after school care. A student's enrollment at an elementary school does not guarantee them ESS enrollment. As a growing organization, each ESS site may experience limitations that factor into the enrollment capacity and may prohibit the acceptance of additional students at any given time.

Program History - The E.S.S. program began in 1980 and is now offered in every elementary school in the Poway Unified School District. All children who attend elementary school in the District are eligible to enroll.

Program Activities - Our program is geared toward expanding each child's world through arts & crafts projects, science activities, reading and language arts reinforcement, and math concept development. Our program reinforces the social, motor, and academic skills children learn in the classroom.

Hours - E.S.S. is open daily, Monday - Friday, from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm.

We believe that the children's extended day will be enriched by providing a balanced activity calendar that will support their growth and development. We want to encourage the children to explore their interests, motivate them to achieve their personal best, and relax and have fun with friends.
