Creating
a Company
This
assignment will give you valuable insight on how major companies are run and the
obstacles that a company would face. You will create a company from scratch.
Part of your job will be to make two products and sell it to other companies.
There are four parts to this assignment…
Part One: Creating Your Company
Part Four: Research A Company

The
Mission: Is to create a top company with the best selling
products.
Part
One (Section one)
· You will be put into groups (5-6 students per group)
· Give out jobs
- General Manager (no more than 1 per group)
Someone that over sees a line of business.. Involve managing
all aspects of the daily operations. Responsibilities
include sales, engineering, manufacturing, and support. Also making best
decision for the branch of the business… while maintaining the leadership and
guiding the staff towards the right direction.
- Assistant Manager (no more than 1 per group)
Someone that helps out the General Manager perform their
daily tasks, and keeps the staff motivated.
- Product Manager ( no more than 1 per group)
Someone
who defines a product's roadmap and its
functionalities. They build, with the group the customer profile
(Demographics, Geographics and Psychographics) that they want to target with a
certain product and they also analyze the competitors in the market. You are
also responsible for developing the marketing mix (four P’s).
-Staff
These are individuals that perform the companies daily
tasks.
There are three components to Part One
· Resume- Each individual in the group must have a resume (5 points)
· The portfolio (rough draft)- This is a typewritten professional response to all the detailed items below. (Section Two) (15 points)

A company oral presentation- all members of your group are
to share in the presentation about the company portfolio. (Section Two)

Part One (Section Two): Creating a company
· A company name
· A company Slogan
· A logo
· Job titles (What was each person’s position & title in the company? Why do the employees in your company want to work for you?)
· An outline that describes the overall philosophy of your company “goals” (Mission Statement).
· What are your main competitors in the market place?
Part Two:
Creating your product
There
are three components creating the product

Creating The Product-Your company must create two products
from “raw materials”, they must also be a functional product that you can
sell. (10 points for each product)

The product layout-(Must have a product layout for each
product) See the “product layout” instructions below.

Group oral presentation (20 points)
The Product Layout
· A typewritten paper on the product (must be written for each product)
- What it does and why the consumers will want it?
- Features of your product
- Benefits to the consumer
- How much money did it take to make the product?
- How much will you sell the product for?
- What is the customer profile for each of your products?(psychographics, geographics, and demographics)
- How will your product be packaged? (Promotional plan)
- How will you advertise it? (Location for AD’s)
· Illustrate a drawing of both products
- Use appropriate product colors
- Labels and Logos
· The products MUST WORK and make a profit

Research government regulations- Is there any
regulations against your product or how you chose to sell it? Your company
must have at lest three regulations listed. (EX: Sell of tobacco, alcohol,
age limitations)

Estimated Cost- List all expenses involved with your products, all
the way up to the final sale of products.

The Group
Oral Presentation “Selling your product”
· Present the product 5-10 minutes (Sell us in the class on every element of the product layout)
· Must have overheads or use PowerPoint to present the information on the product
· Clothing: “Dress for success” What you look like reflects upon your company. Your companies overall presentation grade will reflect upon your overall appearance.

The goal of the presentation is to sell your product. After
the company presents, the class as a whole will decide whether or not the
product your company presented was worth purchasing.
· Final company paper- final version (20 points)
· Outcome oral presentation (10 points)
Final Company paper
· Title Page (Company name, logo, Symbol)
· A Page with all the employees names and job titles
· What products you made? ( give a short description on each product)
· What did you learn as group?
· What did you learn as an individual (each person in the group must write a half page)
· Documented hired/fired records
· Documented Interviews
· Employee review sheets
· All employee resumes
· All clock in and clock out records
Outcome Presentation (5-10 minutes long)
· Must have a visual (I.E. poster, product illustration, product prototypes ETC.) with you company name and logo.(Use the same materials as you did in the rough draft presentation, only improved)
· State what you liked and disliked about project
· What did you learn?
· What were your company’s strong and weak points?
Part Four: Research A Company
(This is an individual person assignment.)
· Research a company that relates to your company. Then write a two-page response to the following questions.(Use Times New Roman, 12 font) Make sure to site your sources! (25 points)
1) What is the company?
2) What is their logo, and slogan?
3) What is the companies mission statement?
4) What is the companies demographics, psychographics and geographics (customer profile)?
5) What type of products do they sell?
6) What type of advertisement does the company use to promote their products?
7) How does the company relate to your company?
8)
What is the companies strong and weak points?
9) How is does your company compete with the
relating company and what makes you better or worse than them?
