CLASS EXPECTATIONS, POLICIES, AND PROCEDURES

          Welcome back to school!  I’m looking forward to spending this year with you as you discover newfound abilities, strengthen mathematical skills, and learn to work cooperatively with others.  Please take the time to read this carefully with your parents. You are responsible for this information.

Ingredients for Success

For this course you must have in your three-ring notebook a Math section for handouts and quizzes & tests.
I expect you to keep ALL the work we do in this course.
Recommended supplies to be brought everyday to class:

* Binder with Math section
* Spiral notebook of graph paper
* Pencils, erasers, a pen or highlighter
* 3 x 5 index cards and ring
* Completed homework assignments
* Covered textbook and Eagle Agenda
* Calculator (a good scientific calculator such as a TI-30 solar costs anywhere from $12 - $19 and should last you through high school. A limited number of calculators are available during class.)

Extra Help

If you need additional help and are having problems I am available:

                         during 4th period lunch on Tuesday and Thursday.

A private tutor list is available through the counseling office.
Access Free On Line Help or Student Tutorial web pages through my MV website.

       Don’t get behind, it only gets worse. Math builds on prior knowledge. If you don’t understand what we’re doing today, you will struggle with what we will do tomorrow, next week, and next month! GET HELP! It’s okay if you do not understand, but it’s NOT okay if you don’t do anything about it.

        I will keep you and your parents informed of your progress and areas of improvement by posting progress notices on-line, and posting current grades every Monday on learning point.

***Tests (TS) 85%

1) After every chapter or unit of study you will be given a chapter test or evaluation.

2) Individual, group, and or partner projects will be counted as Test/Quiz grades.

3) About every week you will be given a Quiz (individual, homework or group.) One quiz grade per quarter may be dropped from your grade. When you receive your quiz back, you must make corrections and obtain a parent’s signature for homework credit.

***Homework (HW) 15%

1) Homework is assigned every day and is due the following day.  You will always have notes taken in class and a few examples to guide you as well as the examples in the textbook. Every Monday the Homework board in class and on learning point will list all assignments due for the week.

2) ALL LATE ASSIGNMENTS EARN 0% CREDIT! Homework, as well as other assignments or projects, are to be completed, and corrected on the due dates. Make sure to record the assignment in your Eagle Agenda on Monday or daily.

3) If you have an excused absence, call your study buddy for the assignment, or look on my website, complete the problems, correct it and show me the assignment within a week after you return. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND OUT WHAT YOU HAVE MISSED! See Eagle Agenda rules for extended absences.

4) Homework and class work will be completed in your spiral notebook of graph paper.

5) Homework will be accepted only as follows:
     a) Neatly written in pencil or erasable ink only. If I cannot read your work, it will not    receive credit. Projects and other special assignments much be written in ink, typed or   printed by computer.
     b) Completed with each problem written and ALL WORK SHOWN.

 ***Citizenship

Your Citizenship grade is based on participation, willingness to cooperate and work with others, preparation, on/off task time, and tardies.

              ***Effort

Your Effort grade is based primarily on hw completion. I feel every student could receive 100% in homework if they put the effort in correcting all mistakes, following directions and completing it on time.
