Computer Problem #1

Problem = 4[2x+5]-8= 36

Solution =  The first step into solving this problem would be to do distributive property by multiplying 4 times 2X then 4 times 5 and you will have a problem like this:

8x + 20- 8= 36

        -20     -20

Then the next step would be to subtract 20 from both sides of the equation from 36 and you should end up with this problem,:

8x – 8= 16

    +8    +8

Then after completing that step, the next thing you will do will be add 8 to the 8 and the 16 and will end with this problem:

8x=24

Then you will divide both 8x and 24 by eight and you will have found the answer which

is x=3. Then to check your problem you will rewrite the entire problem and substitute the 3 for X. 8[3] +20- 8= 36. Then make sure both sides are equal.

24+20-8=36

44-8=36

36=36
