Computer Problem #1

1. y = 4x-1

2. On this problem I substituted numbers for x to solve for y as follows:

x = 0      y = -1

x = 1      y = 3

x = 2      y = 7

x = 3      y = 11

x = 4      y = 15

x = 5      y = 19

3. After doing this I noticed a pattern. Every time x increased by 1 y increased by 4 and every time x decreased by 1 y decreased by 4.

4. Therefore the run of this problem is 1 and the rise of this problem is 4.

5. The graph of this problem looks like this:        Y
