Computer Problem #1

-3 + S≤ 5

-3 + S ≤  5

+ 3     =   +3                                                                   Now first step into solving this problem is making sure that the “S” is all by itself. To do that we must take away the “-3”. To take away the “-3” we have to add “+3”

S < 5+3

S = 8                                                                                                                     Therefore making the “S” stand-alone. Now the equation that is set before us is quite simple:

This shows that “S”= 8. So anything under or as the number 8, “S” will equal to it.

To make a graph you must first start by making a number line:

              2      4      6     8    10

On it you place your desired numbers, making sure you have at least the number 8 and numbers smaller than it.

To make the arrow showing that 8 is the largest number, you make you make a line, closed dot meaning “ >” open dot meaning “ >”

                                                                             To know whether to point the arrow one way or the other you simply look at the sign and see if it is pointing towards the unknown number will mean that the unknown number will become smaller than 8.

So in conclusion your problem should look like this and your answer should have been 8.

          -3 + S ≤    5

          + 3  =  + 3

          S     5 + 3

          S = 8
