1. Use the distributive property to distribute the 5. You do this by multiplying the distributor 5, by 3x and 2. So
5(3x)=15x and 5(2)=10   So you get: 15x-10+1x


2. Then you make it easier to add your x’s by using the commutative property to move 1x over. You get: 15x+1x-10

3. The final step is to combine like terms and add your x’s together so you get:
16x-10*

*You don’t get 6x or 6 because you cannot subtract any further. You can’t subtract any further because both sides are not x’s, or both sides are not just numbers. Your only final answer to this problem is : 16x-10
