1. Use the
distributive property to distribute the 5. You do this by multiplying the
distributor 5, by 3x and 2. So
5(3x)=15x and 5(2)=10 So you get: 15x-10+1x
2. Then
you make it easier to add your x’s by using the commutative property to move 1x
over. You get: 15x+1x-10
3. The final
step is to combine like terms and add your x’s together so you get:
16x-10*
*You don’t
get 6x or 6 because you cannot subtract any further. You can’t subtract any
further because both sides are not x’s, or both sides are not just numbers.
