Solving  Inequalities

 

 

When solving inequalities you have to remember that whatever you do to one side you have to do to the same other side. Lets look at how to solve the following problem.

 

-5x≤20

          The first thing you must do is divide each side by negative five to eliminate the negative five on the left side.

 

-5x ≤ 20

-5      -5

 

          Then you flip the sign because you divided, and you end up with the following. x > -4

Your answer will be greater than or equal to negative four.
