Computer Project #1

Problem

5 (2x-3) - 4x = 9

1. Using Distributive Property is one way to solve this problem. Multiply the distributor, which is 5 with the terms in the parenthesis 2x and 3. This will give you an answer of    10x  -15 –4x = 9.

2. Now the second step to solve this problem is combining like terms. 10x and  -4x are like terms so we add them together and get 6x. Now the problem is 6x -15 = 9.

3. For the third step you need to get x by itself. So you have to add 15 on each side of the equation. Now this is what the equation looks like 6x = 24.

4. The last step to take in solving the problem is solving for x. This means you have to divide both sides by 6. This should get you 4. That is your final answer. X = 4
