1. The first step is to distribute the quanity -5(-6 - 2y)

                                                            =  30 + 10y

                                                                -5y + 30 + 10y=0

2. Combine like terms. Combine -5y and 10y   5y + 30=0

3. Now it is to get teh variable by itself. Subtract 30 from both sides because what ever you do to one side you do to the other, which is the property of equalitys.

                                                                5y + 30=0

                                                                       -30 -30

                                                                5y= -30

4.Divide by 5 on both sides. 5y= -30
