Minimum of 12.5 hours required. It may take you a lot longer to complete
all of the work and pass this sub-contract. If you really want a good grade
and do quality work, this will take you longer than the minimum.
It is recommended that all of the assignments be typed, however, that may
be arranged with the homeroom teacher.
At the end of this sub-contract you will:
1.
List considerations for planning marriage.
2.
List the advantages of family planning.
3.
Describe the process of fertilization.
4.
Describe the stages of pregnancy.
5.
Define how traits are passed from one generation to another.
6.
Describe genetic disorders
7.
Describe why pre-natal care is important
8.
Describe the female reproductive system and common disorders
9.
Describe the process of menstruation
10.
Describe the male reproductive system and common disorders
11.
List Sexually Transmitted Diseases, their causes and symptoms.
Methods of Learning: You will use the Internet, resource texts, engage in activities, create projects, and discuss important learning, both verbally and in writing which deal with Family Life, Human Development, & Heredity.
Evaluation:
This sub-contract is worth 100 points. In order to earn points, you
must complete the various activities satisfactorily including a pre-test
and post-test for the sub-contract, and completion of a health notebook
(3 ring binder preferred) containing all of your health assignments.
The
sub-contract is divided into different areas. You must perform those
activities which are asterisked *** and you may choose a variety of activities
from those without an asterisk, as long as they fulfill a total of 100
points.

1. What is HIV
2. How does one come in contact with AIDS
3. Where does the AIDS virus live?
4. What about poking yourself with something that has someone else's
blood on it?
5. Should needles be shared?
6. How is a person with AIDS treated is the workplace and social
environment?
7. Is it safe to touch or hug someone with AIDS?

Create a brochure with GUIDELINES for STD Risk Reduction. You
must have at least 8 points. An example would be : Limit yourself
to one partner who is also limited to you. Insure that this partner
is disease free at the onset of intimacy. This must be created using
colored pencils, markers, or the computer on unlined paper.
6. Get the HIV Information question sheet from the library. Answer in detailed outline or paragraph format.

Set up an interview with someone who is HIV positive or has AIDS?
Write out a list of 10 questions about their disease. Set up a convenient
interview time. Complete your interview by having them initial
your notes. Complete the assignment by writing out their replies
to your 10 questions in extended paragraph format. What is your personal
feeling about your interview? (Hint, you may want to use #3 above to get
started on your questions.

If you didn't do well, your homeroom teacher will counsel you on remediation
for this sub-contract. You must have your homeroom teacher's approval
to continue.
