Course Description: This is a survey course that meets the California state and PUSD requirements for high school graduation. The content examines the physiological, phycological, and social factors which influence a state of well-being and overall health.

At the end of this course you will:

________1. Describe the dimensions of health and wellness.
________2. Discuss the contribution of your various physiological systems to your health.
________3. Relate the components of phycological and social health to your life.
________4. Be informed of health-related information and services.
________5. Respect and promote health for others.

Methods of Learning: You will use the Internet as a resource, access text books, engage in activities, create projects, and discuss important learning, both verbally and in writting which deal with five major themes:

________1. Wellness and Stress
________2. Fitness and Nutrition
________3. Family Life, Human Development, and Heredity
________4. Drug Abuse, Alcohol, and Tobacco
________5. Disease Prevention and Every Day Health Care

Evaluation: The contract is divided into five sub-contracts which deal with the major themes of the course. Each sub-contract is worth 100 points and the entire contract is worth 500 points. In order to earn points, you must complete the various activities satifactorily including a pre-test and post-test for each sub-contract.
