Course Objectives:
Students
successfully completing this course will be able to:

Assignments: Information about assignments is maintained
on the PHS web site http://powayusd.sdcoe.k12.ca.us/teachers/lolps/. Student grades are maintained on the
teacher’s web site and can be accessed through LearningPoint
at http://www.learningpoint.org/ or by going to the teacher’s web site,
and clicking on the Grades link.
Additional Help: Additional help is available though e-mail to the
instructor, or attendance at tutorial.
Students who have a D or F average have mandatory tutorial
attendance. Grades are reviewed weekly
with students.
Grading:
Each assignment is given a certain number of points based on the difficulty and
size of the project. A student’s overall
grade is weighted based on the following:
Daily
assignments 45%
Culminating
Projects 45%
Final
Project 10%
Total Grade 100%
Final Project: This is a demonstration of software skills learned
during the semester. This project is
accepted for full credit at the beginning of the class on the day it is
due. Any time thereafter on the due date
that the student submits the project 50% will be taken off of the credit
earned. Should the student turn in the
assignment 2 days late, the project will be 75% off of the credit earned, etc.
Make-up work: Students are responsible to have all missed
work made up by the end of each unit. No
work from a given unit (i.e. Word Processing, Spreadsheet, etc.) will be
accepted for points any later than 1 week after the class completion of that
unit. See the course calendar for due
dates.
Pass/Fail: The student and the parent should be aware
that the Introduction to Computer class may be taken for pass/fail credit
rather than a letter grade, provided the student requests this rating the first
week of class. The student may obtain
