Internship Steps for Computer Repair Technicians

Step One

High School Teacher and Site Technician (where applicable) Recommendation based on student’s:

• Semester grades and final grade

Does not have to be an A, if other areas are very strong. An A doesn’t mean an internship automatically received.

• Hardware Knowledge

List of skills student must perform, i.e. Assemble, install, and troubleshoot computer hardware problems

• Software Knowledge

1. Troubleshoot specific software related problems
2. Troubleshoot and know specific Operating Systems

• Employability Skills

1. Interpersonal Skills
2. Team Player
3. Problem Solver
4. Organized
5. Self-motivated and self-directional
6. Follow through

Displays an inner interest and drive for technology based job

Step Two

Interview by Administrator and two staff members

• Series of questions asked based upon:

1. Hardware Knowledge
2. Software Knowledge
3. Employability
4. Potential

Step Three

Interview and Placement by Cora Bageley, District Office

Step Four

Interview by potential company

Step Five

Regular meetings, communication and evaluation of placement between students and Mrs. Bageley

Extra Ideas

1. Student meetings every two weeks for "Intern issues"
2. One-on-0ne monthly meetings with CRT teacher
3. E-mail available to CRT teachers for "Tech" questions by students
