You are to act as an ambassador or government official for the United States to a foreign country.   You are to plan a 7-10 day trip, including travel time, and meetings.  You will need to use the Internet for all of your planning.  Leave on a Sunday and return on a Saturday.

 

You will use the following:  the Internet and MS Word.

Assignment:

1.      Choose a country.

2.      Plan the following:

You must include all * items in your Itinerary and

1.      *Arrange for your flight to your country:

a.      Choose an airline that services your country

b.      What are your flight times?

c.      What do the tickets cost?

2.      *Where will you stay and what is the cost per night?

3.      *What is the food like. What are some of the main dishes that you can expect to be served?  If you were to go to a restaurant, how would you know what you were ordering?  Find the names of dishes, pictures, and ingredients, so that you don’t order “FROG eggs and eyeballs  alacarte”

4.      *What is the dollar exchange value?  $1.00 is worth how much in the country you are visiting. 

5.      Is English the primary language, or will you need to bring a dictionary?  Will you have translators?

6.      *What are 3 important tourist sites to visit and what is the cost to visit each?  What sites will you visit and when?  You must include a picture of the place or places that you intend to visit.

a.      You must meet with the “Head of State” or another government official

·        What do you know about this person?  How can what you know about them be applied in your meetings?

·        Include a picture of this person.

·        What will you discuss?  Perhaps economic problems of the country?

·        Why is this person important in his/her country - title?

·        What is the primary economic, social interest of this person?

·        Why are you meeting with this person and what do you intend to accomplish?

b.      You must meet with one local businessperson.  You will want to know about the economy of the country, so that you can choose a viable, thriving business (Question 4 should help you)

1.      Why did you choose this person?

2.      Why is this person’s business important to the economy of your country’s choice?

8.      Are there any extremely different cities to visit – historical value, cultural extremes?

9.      Consider transportation:  Will you rent a car or ride a camel?  How about Mass Transit?

10. What are 2 problems facing this country?

11.  Insert a flag of your country as a washout behind the table

12.  Insert a map of your country at the end of the document
