Objective:

            In this lesson you will learn:

·         Use tables

·        Insert callouts

·        Shade cells

·        Center text vertically

 

Assignment:

1.      Look at the sample.  Yours must be different from the sample.

2.      Now think of one or more Nursery Rhymes, or a Fairy Tale or Fable.  Select at least four characters or motions in these rhymes that you can insert into the table

3.      If you don’t remember your Nursery Rhymes use the following links.  You will be able to locate one and perhaps some of the clipart or pictures that you need at the web sites below:

4.      Once you have selected a Nursery Rhyme, go to Number 5 below this list of links to complete the assignment and see the sample.

5.  Create a table

 

1.      Click on Insert

2.      Click on Table

3.      Count the number of rows and columns in the following sample that you are going to need for your table.

4.      Use the table eraser to make row one, one cell in the first row (Highlight Cell, Table Tools, Design, Draw Borders, Eraser)

§         Shade the cell, (Highlight cell, Right Click, Format, Borders and Shading)

§         Color the font, (Home, Font)

§         Center the text vertically (Highlight cell, Table Tools, Layout, Alignment, Align Center)

§         Change the font style (Home, Font)

5.      Go to the second row and label your columns.  Color the text, center the text (Home, Font)

6.       Row three

a.      Insert your own titles, labels, etc. in Column 1, Row 3

b.      Insert your clipart of one of the characters.  Insert the “callout”. (Insert, Illustrations, Shapes, Callouts) Insert text into the callout. (Perhaps something that the character would say in the rhyme).  Color text, bold, italicize or choose a different font. (Home, Font)

c.      Insert your own titles, labels, etc. in Column 3 Row 3.  (Perhaps a “catchy” name of the character).

7.      Row four.  Shade the column, Erase the column divider lines. (Right Click Column, Format, Borders and Shading). To Erase: (Highlight Cell, Table Tools, Design, Draw Borders, Eraser).

8.      Continue until you have 4 characters, choosing a different font and color for each character.
