Border on Picture

Right mouse click on picture/Format Picture/Click on Color and Line Tab/ Click on Color/Dash/Weight

Change start of page numbering Insert, Page Number, Format, Start numbering on page _____)

Columns

  1. Format/Columns/Two/
  2. Apply to:  This point forward
  3. Turn on line between columns

Change Back to One

  1. Format/Columns/One
  2. Apply to: This point forward

Divider Line

View/Toolbars/Drawing.  Draw a line, change style and color

Drop Caps

  1. Highlight the letter that is to become the Drop Cap
  2. Format/Drop
  3. Select middle box
  4. BT – change number of rows for drop down
  5. Select different font
  6. Say OK
  7. Change color of letter

Find and Replace

Edit/Find/Find What:  Type the word to be replaced/Click on the Replace Tab/  Type the word or word to be replaced.  Click on More/ Click on Format.  Make one change and verify that the Replace with is not on the Find section.  Then go back to format and change the Font color, Underline, and underline color.  Change font style and size too, if wanted.

Footer

  1. View/Header and Footer
  2. Click on the Switch icon
  3. Type in text on left
  4. Tab to right
  5. Insert text
  6. Insert/Page Number/Bottom/Center
  7. Highlight all of text in that row
  8. Change font size to 8
  9. Doesn’t affect page number, so focus on page number itself
  10. Click on page number
  11. Get zebra lines around the outside
  12. Highlight with your mouse the number
  13. Select font size 8

Line Accent or Topic Divider Line

  1. View/Toolbars/Drawing
  2. Click on the line
  3. Draw line
  4. Right mouse click
  5. Format the width and color of the line

Line Spacing

  1. Double Spacing -  Ctrl 2
  2. Single Spacing – Ctrl 2
  3. Format/Paragraph/Line Spacing  1.5

Line Spacing

To do 1.5 line spacing.  Format/Paragraph/Spacing 1.5

Line Under Text/Border

Type in text.  Hit enter 3 times.  Click on the right side of the text.  Center the text.  Click Format/Borders and Shading/Border tab/Style/Turn off L/R/T.

Margins

File/Page Setup/ T/B/R/L

Page Border

Format/Borders and Shading/ Page Border Tab/Style/Color/  (ART)

Page Number Insert/Page Number/Bottom Center

Paragraph line under text

  1. Type in text
  2. Push enter two times
  3. Return cursor to the right of the txt
  4. Format/Borders and Shading/Border
  5. Border tab
  6. Select style and color
  7. On the box, turn off L/R/T

Paste Special

Copy a picture (right mouse click)/Edit/Paste Special/Bitmap, Picture/Gif/JPEG

Shading and Borders on a Table

Highlight the area to be shaded.  Format/ Borders and Shading/ Border Tab/ Style/Color/Width.  Shading/ Patterns/ Color/Select a pattern or a %

Text Boxes

View/Toolbars/ Make sure that Drawing is checked.

Draw a Text Box/Type in the text/ Color the text/.  Right mouse click/Format Text Box/Color and Lines Tab/ Color/ Fill/  Mix colors and directions/

 

To put border on:  Click on Color and Line Tab/ Click on Color/Dash/Weight

Topic Dividing Lines

View/Toolbars/Drawing/

On the drawing toolbar, select line/ Draw a line/hold shift down to draw a straight line/Select line style/Color it with the paint brush

Two Pages per sheet File/Page Setup/Pages/Multiple Pages/Two Pages per sheet

Washout behind text

  1. Activate picture by putting the handlebars on it
  2. Click on the dog
  3. Click through
  4. Click behind text
  5. Move and size picture

Washout or Watermark

  1. Insert/Clipart or picture from file
  2. Right mouse click on picture.
  3. Copy picture.
  4. Paste into Word document.
  5. Click View/Toolbars/Picture.
  6. On picture toolbar, click on Image Control (the second icon from the left).
  7. Select Washout which is a watermark.
  8. Leave the handlebars on.
  9. Click on the dog on the picture toolbar.
  10. Click on Behind text.
  11. Click on through.
  12. You may have to click on Behind Text again.
