PowerPoint Project #4: Your Cultural Study, an Oral Presentation


Objective:
Students will research their Ethnic Heritage by using the Internet to gather information about one of the countries from which their family originated. Students will gather information on the following areas for this project:


Personal Ethnic Profile: What different ethnic groups describes your family (i.e. Swedish, French, Lithuanian, Indian), What percentages of each are you, when did your relatives came to America?

Country Demographics: Where the country is located, national religions, interesting geographic features (largest waterfall, World's tallest mountain, largest river, etc.) including two maps, one of the world and one of that country itself.  Use drawing tools to point to the country/countries of your origin

Description of that culture: Traditions, beliefs, values, family systems (matriarchal, patriarchal), types of food, favorite sports/entertainment, languages spoken, celebrated holidays, types of clothing, traditions still celebrated in your family, etc. Any interesting anecdotes about your family that you want to share, make this presentation more fun.

Interesting Sites/Facts: Three interesting Sites/facts that a tourist to this country would not want to miss.


Specific Requirements:

  1. One PowerPoint presentation using Slide Transitions and Animation Effects, Custom Animation, Dim text
  2. A minimum of 10 Slides; 
  3. A minimum of 8 images. More than one image per slide might be appropriate.
  4. Notes Pages for each slide written into PowerPoint's Notes Page view.  Use sparingly, and only for information that you might forget
  5. Set timings, rehearse timings for three minutes
