Part I 

Note:  A company that is Public has stocks that are traded on the Stock Market.  A private company has investors by those people who work for the company or are owners of the company.

  Three Stock Exchange Companies:

  1. New York Stock Exchange (older company)
  2. American Stock Exchange
  3. NASDAQ – Can exchange stocks over the Internet, primarily technology stocks

  Two URLs that you will need:

  1. www.nyse.com
  2. www.nasdaq.com

  Step 1:

  1. Type in www.nyse.com for the URL on the Internet
  2. Look at the “Hot Links” on the left.  Click on Listed Company Directory
    1. ò Listed Company Directory found on upper right side
  3. Click on U.S. Listed Companies

 

  1. At Browse by name: Click A on the Alphabet

   

    1. Click on Abercrombie & Fitch ( ANF ).  Note that the “ANF” is the Stock Exchange symbol
