Levels of Questioning
|
I used the two Level 1 Question Pages to introduce terms or starter words to help the students develop questions in the left column of Cornell Notes. The two pages are practice sheets for discussion and reference sheets when students work in peer groups on note taking. Originally I was told that upper elementary would only be working at Level 1 of questioning. However, students have been observed moving on naturally to asking some Level 2 and Level 3 questions. I am in the process of developing some frame of reference for all my students at Level 2. I also tried to support previous instruction in using part of the question in the answer, as part of the exercises. When that strategy is employed it certainly helps students when reviewing for a test.
