I enjoyed meeting all of the parents on Aug. 28th at Back-To-School-Night.  It is always wonderful to see all the support for their learning.

In History we are currently studying CA. Geography and Regions.

In Writing the students are learning how to write a thesis statement and to organize their work into paragraphs using a four square graphic organizer.

In Math we are reviewing multiplication and division concepts learned in 3rd grade, and expanding our knowledge of the relationship between multiplication and division.

In Word Study the students are tackling the important "Power Words" that they see in majority of the directions and activities we do in class, and working on the spelling of High Frequency Words in our first poem, "A Poem Is A Little Path".  Our first spelling test will be Sept. 5.

In Reading we are discussing and practicing the strategies that good readers use when they are reading.  Our first Book Project, A Story Map, is due Sept. 5.  The genre concentration for this project is mystery, adventure, or realistic fiction.
