"You Play, You Pay!"

"Monarch Money" comes in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20, $100, and $500 and is earned in each class.  Students will earn more by following school and classroom rules, showing good character traits, having a great attitude ... displaying the typical, acceptable student behaviors.  Individual students can earn Monarch Money; table groups can earn "MM"; the entire class can earn "MM". 

The last Friday of every month, if students have earned the privilege (3 infractions or fewer in 4th grade), they will be allowed to bring in items to "sell" to their classmates at the "Monarch Mall".  A special time will be designated as "Monarch Mall" time. Teachers have a variety of  privileges / rewards that may be purchased too.  Students may spend their "MM" or they may save it for a bigger and better reward.  Money they receive at the "Mall" they may keep as well.  Students need to keep track of their earnings ~ teachers are NOT responsible for lost "MM".

Examples of Possible Items to "Sell":  (NOTE: Items must fit in 1 plastic type grocery bag)
crafts the student has made
Grade/Age appropriate books that have been read and are just sitting on a shelf (with parent approval)
individually wrapped treats (cookie, cupcake, snack bar, etc.)
Parts of collections (with parent approval)

Teachers' Privileges and Rewards Available to Purchase:
 100 = Line Leader for a Day
100 = Go To Lunch 5 Min. Early
200 = 1 DAY Homework Extension
250 = 5 Bonus Points on a Test
250 = Work With a Friend for 1 Activity / Assignment in Common Area for 15 minutes
1000 = Homework Pass (Skip 1 Daily Assignment – 4TH ONLY)

"You Play, You Pay" Consequences:
 Calling / Shouting Out In Class = $ 20
Loud In The Hall / Common Room = $ 20
Messy Desk = $20
Leaving Room, Getting Drink, Sharpening Pencil During Instruction = $5
Not Being Prepared (supplies, book, materials) = $20
Poor Attitude = $20
Recess Referral = $ 20 (Cutting in Line; Not letting another join a game…)
Not Keeping Hands, Feet, Objects to Self = $50
Being Rude / Disrespectful = $50
     (Name Calling; Inappropriate Action Toward Another; Talking When Teacher is Instructing…)
No Homework = $50
Being Dishonest = $100
