    We were asked to submit a design for this year's falcon T-shirt.  In past year's the T-shirts have been designed by a variety of people in the Cleveland area, and one year it was designed by artist Dave Bennett.  We knew it was going to take a lot of work ...

    First we started out learning how to draw birds.  We practiced drawing birds in all kinds of poses and positions.  Each student drew 8 different practice sketches. When each student had the pose they wanted, they perfected the bird and added falcon features.  The drawings could only be in black and white.
    All of the drawings were hung in the classroom on back-to-school night for the visitors to vote on their favorite falcon.  It was a close race.  The "runners-up" are on the right ... >>

Putting it all together:  The completed design needed to be "camera ready" and contain the name of the project, the web site address of the falcon cam, and at least the logo of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.  The background, including all the required information plus the outline of the state of Ohio and Rolling Hills initials, was created on the computer by Mrs. H.  The winning bird (drawn by Rahul) was then reversed (so the eye would be where Cleveland is located, and mounted on a background.  Below is our submission for the 2006 CMNH Falconcam T-shirt ... and it was chosen to be this season's T-shirt!
