Falcon Watch 2006 Research Topics

A list of topics relating to Peregrine Falcons, or things that relate to this project, has been generated by the teacher.  The topics (listed below) were then written on a slip of paper and put in a "hat".  The "hat", passed around the class room, required each student to draw out a slip of paper ... The topic drawn became the student's topic to research.

Topic of your own ~ must be approved by teacher

The students will use a variety of sources to obtain information over the next few weeks ~ books, the Internet, interviews, contacting experts in the field ...  Students, you might want to start your research here.
Students are responsible for:
~ Taking notes (Cornell Note format)
~ Keeping track of their resources for a bibliography. (Cite Your Sources or Use this Online Citation Tool)
~ Creating an interesting presentation to share with classmates.  This can be a graphic representation of the information, a brochure, a PowerPoint presentation, maps / charts, a poster ...

At the same time RHES students are conducting research, a group of students from Trinity Catholic Elementary School in Columbus, Ohio will take part researching the same topics.  Part of the project  will include sharing their learning with each other by collaborating with a partner "long distance" - using the aid of technology.

The students will self-evaluated their work, and be evaluated by a peer or parent and their teacher, using this checklist.
