For the first
three weeks (3/11 - 4/1): The results so far point out that SW is on the nest more than Buckeye. - Rahul, Robert, Andy The farther they go into incubation, the even the amount of time each bird is sitting on the eggs is. - Breanne SW and Buckeye switch who sits on the eggs longer ever 2-3 days. - Sierra, Margaret The incubation is almost equally shared by the parents. - Simeon, Courtney Who is on the eggs changes during the night as well as during the day. - Trevor, Sarah, Brandon, Brent In the morning, buckeye is on the eggs more; in the evening SW is on the eggs more. - Haley, Andy - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - At the end of incubation: In the beginning of incubation, the time each bird sat on the eggs was not even, but it seems to get more even as the time went on. - Zach When one of the parents gets restless the other one takes over on the nest. - Katrina Buckeye is on the nest mostly in the morning (when the cameras came on) and SW at night (when the cameras went off) I also learned that SW sits on the eggs longer than Buckeye. - Johanna Buckeye is on the nest in the morning and SW in the evening. - Brandon, Robert, Ashley, Jake, Sarah, Rahul, Andy Every 3-5 days the birds switch who is going to sit on the eggs longer that day. - Jesse, Margaret It seems like buckeye has spend longer periods of time on the eggs, but SW is on the eggs more. - Courtney From the data is seems like SW hunts in the morning and Buckeye hunts in the afternoon. - Chris Based on the data we've collected, I'm predicting that the cycle of brooding is shared almost evenly - just like the incubation. - Evan Now I know SW sits on the eggs way more than Buckeye. - Michael |
