The 2005 RHES Falcon Team

 

To participate, the students fill out a "contract".  There are two questions they are asked to
respond to ~ here are some of their responses.

Why do you want to participate in this project?
"I want to be in this project to see what is the difference between falcons and other birds.  Also, I want to see a falcon eat."   Eddie
"I would like to participate in this project because I love challenges.  I also like to use the internet and do research, and I love animals."   Zainab
"I want to participate in this project because I think I will do good and I like falcons."   Tanner
"I really want to participate in the falcon project because I love doing extra credit work and I would love to learn more about nature.  When we went on the web site, it was interesting and it looked really fun."   Tess
"I want to participate so I can learn about falcons."   Blake
"I want to participate in this project because falcons are fascinating, and they are also raptors which is cool.  Doing this project will be really cool to do and learn more about falcons."   Rejean
"I want to participate in this activity because it is really interesting.  Also if I need to do a project similar to this I'll have experience from doing this.  Another reason I would like to participate in this project is I can gain knowledge from all the research and the extra work I need to do in this project."   Kevin

"I want to participate in this project because it seems interesting to learn about falcons.  Also it's interesting that a falcon lives on the side of a building.  I want to see the falcon eggs hatch and see the new falcon babies that are going to be born."   Angel

"We get to see the babies hatch on the internet.  You also get to share your thoughts with other students."  Sammie
"I am very interested in birds and animals.  I love to do research for projects."  Lexi
"I want to participate in this project because I want to (and enjoy) researching about animals.  I personally think that birds are cool and this can be a great opportunity for me to study about birds.  This project can also help me build good homework habits."  Elizabeth
"I would like to participate because I would like to know more about falcons and it seems like a fun project."  Jenni
"I want to participate in this project because I like peregrine falcons.  I love learning about them."  Ari
"I think it would be fun especially if we could name the baby falcons like 2 years ago."  Tim

What do you hope to learn from this project?
"I hope to learn about falcon's prey."   Blake
"I hope to learn how these birds live together and where they originally came from.  I am already aware that falcons eat other birds, but I would still like to learn about them."   Tess
"I hope to learn how you make web sites and some things about falcons, like how big they are or just interesting facts."   Eddie
"I want to learn more about raptors and how to research better."   Amanda
"I want to see how they live and how they eat."   Nate
"I hope to learn a lot of things from falcons, like how their eggs look, and if there is a difference in the appearance of a male and female falcon."   Rejean
"From this project I would like to learn something I never have before."   Loren
"I hope to learn if falcons eat anything else but other birds.  I'd like to learn where falcons usually live and how many babies it lays.  I'd like to learn if falcons are smart creatures."   Angel
"I want to learn about the shape of their bones and I want to learn how a falcon flies."   Tanner
"I hope to learn all the names of everything that has to do with peregrine falcons like - eyases, gullet, secondary feathers, and brood.  I would also like to learn the pattern of their migration, and mating, and how many eggs do they lay.  Also I want to learn how many days does it take for the eggs to hatch and how to tell a female from a male."   Kevin
"I want to learn about falcons and their babies.  I also want to learn more about the internet."   Zainab
"I hope that I learn about the falcons and how to make a web site."  Kiana
"I'd like to see them (the eggs) hatch because I've never seen anything hatch and it would be a cool experiment."  Kimi

"I hope to learn more about the ways falcons live, watch it lay eggs, and watch them hatch."  Lexi
"I hope to learn everything about peregrine falcons.  I also hope to learn about the baby peregrine falcons, how the mother feeds them, how the father feed it, how it survives when the parents think it is old enough, etc."  Elizabeth

"I hope to learn what baby peregrines look like.  I'd like to see what it looks like for a peregrine to feed its baby."  Ari
"I hope to learn why falcons are endangered and what is their way of living."  Thuy
