RHES Falcon Team |
This will be the 4th year SW and Buckeye have occupied the 14 year old peregrine falcon nest site (located here) on the 12th floor of the 52 floor, 708 feet tall, Terminal Tower building, constructed in 1930 in Downtown Cleveland, Ohio. It was the tallest building in the world outside of New York City until 1967 and remains a significant landmark, the second tallest building in Cleveland and Ohio. The building was originally the railroad terminal, and now houses offices, a hotel, retail shops, and the underground public transportation base for Cleveland. Click to read more about the Terminal Tower. In addition to this pair of nesting falcons there are many more around Ohio. Click here to read about them. | The temperature was down to 28°F over night last night and only in the low 40's yesterday (2/12) and today (2/13). Wonder if there will be a late snow fall after the eggs are laid like last year? | ||

Why
speakers above the nest box? Years ago there used to be too many pigeons perching on the buildings and flying around the public square. Speakers were installed and music played to try and chase them away because they made a mess....However since the falcons have taken up residence the pigeon problem is no longer a problem! |
![]() 2/16 10:56 AM Mr. Wright, usually behind the camera, was captured on the webcam coming out the window on the right. |

2/17 Birds seemed to be elusive today, or at least not within the cameras' views. Didn't capture a single shot of them. In the past 24 hours the temperatures have been between 26°F and 34°F with light snow in the area. hopefully they are in a warm spot. 2/18 Getting concerned ...birds still not around ~ at least within camera view ... |

Can you tell the birds apart yet? Here are a few hints ... SW is larger, and darker in color. The white on Buckeye's chest goes down further than SW's; she has more black "bars" on her chest. Buckeye has a distinctive white patch on the top of his left wing. They both have bright yellow feet, long claws, and very sharp beaks! |

![]() 2/20 1:00 PM Looks like little birds are flying around the nest ... Are they NUTS? |
![]() 2/20 6:00 PM What looked like alien beings and little birds were actually snow flakes on the camera lens ~ makes a cold bed for the night. |

![]() 2/22 2:27 PM Both birds are hanging out at the nest more today |
