Are you a Scout?  Would you like to be one?  Hi, my name is David.  I am 9 years old and I am a Cub Scout Bear.

I really like scouts, it is so much fun.  In Poway we can learn about boating, fishing and swimming in our troop.  In the summer we get to go to Summer Day Camp at the Community Center and at Poway Lake.

At Cub Scout Day Camp we work on many achievements like archery, leather work, swimming, woodworking and fitness.  

My three older brothers are Boy Scouts.  They get to go on a lot of campouts.  They do a lot of service projects to help other people in Poway.

My older brothers made birdhouses with their troop for the little yellow birds who forget to migrate every year.  Then the Rangers helped them take the birdhouses up to Laguna Mountains and put them up in the trees.  The birdhouses kept the little yellow birds warm so they wouldn't die in the winter.

My brother, Thomas, and his patrol are working on their Safety Merit Badges.   Thomas just earned his Safety and Finger-painting Merit Badges.

I can't wait to be a Boy Scout and go camping.  I love to cook around a campfire.  My brother taught me the right way to make a campfire and the safe way to put it out.  He learned how in his Scout Troop.
