Science & Social Studies

  • Provide copies of overheads and study guides to students.
  • Allow students to respond orally to assessments (many times students understand the information, but have difficulty with the testing format).
  •  Provide a “buddy” reader or audio-taped versions of text to below grade level readers. 
  • Provide visuals as much as possible to help with comprehension of broad topics.
  • Provide lower level readers/picture books to help explain concepts in Science and Social Studies.
  • Provide a peer tutor/note taker to share notes on carbon copy paper.
  • Provide copies of teacher notes and require students to COMPARE them to their own notes & fill in the gaps.
